About the Limpopo ICT Forum
Limpopo Information and Communication Technology Forum (commonly known as Limpopo ICT Forum) was conceptualised in 2006 and commenced functioning in the latter part of 2008. The forum was formally registered in the first quarter of 2010 as a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), and is now a Non-Profit Company. The forum serves the interests of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) professionals and aspiring ICT professionals, with a primary focus on developing the ICT industry within Limpopo Province and interlinking with other organisations locally and beyond the province for its members and through its members to achieve its objectives.
The forum is the sole professional ICT body based in Limpopo and for Limpopo, its mandate is to:
- serve ICT business community interests
- serve ICT professionals' interests
- serve ICT students' interests
- collaborate with the academic institutions representing the above
- become a linking and a discussion platform between the private and public sectors around ICT in deliberations
Amongst the objectives of the forum, it serves as a central point of information sharing as well as dissemination around ICT opportunities, ICT collaborations, ICT improvement activities within Limpopo and events that propel the ICT industry in Limpopo Province and beyond.
It came to light over the years of observation and engagements with ICT industry players in the province that the complexities faced by the majority of individual ICT professionals and businesses could only be addressed through a foresight, dedicated and a regional integration approach through the forum; with a view of crafting effective as well as beneficial outcomes for the provincial ICT professionals, businesses and students.
The forum is of the view that in our fast-paced changing planet, there will always be fresh challenges approaching over the horizon; hence proactive planning and enhanced cooperation are considered paramount as mitigation to both anticipated and unknown challenges; especially those that are underpinned by ICT.
The forum therefore provides province-wide ICT leadership to our members, external stakeholders and organizations interested in a working relationship with forum members. In brief, the forum represents the aspirations and the needs of the ICT Industry in the Limpopo region. The Limpopo ICT Forum represents businesses, professionals and students in the ICT industry.
